In keeping with tradition, Farrow & Ball will maintain its carefully curated selection of 132 shades.

The new paint colors draw inspiration from everyday household items, reflecting comfort, nostalgia, and even utility.

It’s “all about things which are quite, quite small,” says Joa Studholme, Farrow & Ball’s color curator.

The term “new” is somewhat of a misnomer, as the latest additions include a few beloved shades that were previously archived.

1. Farrow & Ball Dibber

Dibber is an earthy, mossy green named after a beloved gardening tool. (Dibbers are pointed wooden sticks used to make holes in the ground to plant seeds, seedlings, or small bulbs.)

2. Farrow & Ball Douter

Douter is a sooty gray-green paint color reminiscent of the tarnished brass of a traditional candle snuffer. Douter is a combination of Green Smoke and Inchyra Blue, two of Farrow & Ball’s bestselling paint colors. 4. Farrow & Ball Kakelugn

Reminiscent of marmalade, the most British of condiments, Marmelo is a mellow burnt orange color named after the marmelo quince.

“I can’t help but think about the bountiful shelves of a larder bursting with jars of pickles and jams when I look at it,” says Studholme. “It’s warming and restorative.”

A faded, time-worn terracotta hue, Naperon is inspired by the origins of the word “apron.”

A muddy dark green with prominent brown undertones, Reduced Green is similar to Farrow & Ball Cardamom, but darker.

A soft off-white with delicate pink undertones, Scallop is a lighter version of cult favorite Dead Salmon. Its name follows a Farrow & Ball tradition of drawing color inspiration from seafood. Smoked Trout and Potted Shrimp, anyone?

Scallop, though, earns particularly high praise from Studholme, who describes the color as “incredibly precious” and “just magic.”

“I absolutely love if you do the bottom half of the wall in Etruscan Red and the top in Scallop,” Studholme continues. “Very easy stuff, but it’s beautiful.”

Sizing is a crisp, airy, blue-based off-white paint color that evokes the freshness of clean laundry.

10. Farrow & Ball Broccoli Brown

Broccoli Brown is a quiet, dark stone color that looks lovely with weathered wood, flagstone floors, and other natural materials. It’s particularly well suited to “drenching” a room in a single color.

A dark and deeply saturated olive shade, Sap Green‘s reintroduction is a testament to the sustained appeal of green in the design world.

My color consultation clients can’t get enough of green, particularly colors such as Green Smoke, Pigeon, Mizzle, and Bancha.

“We have found that green is enduringly popular, especially when teamed with soft pinks,” Studholme says. “Although fairly strong, Sap Green has a slightly understated feel, especially when combined with Scallop on the ceiling.”
